Product Description Use this cable adapter to connect your 12-inch PowerBook G4, Intel-based iMac, MacBook Intel-based laptop, Intel-based Xserve, or 2009 Mac Mini to an external monitor with DVI-D input. Plug the Mini-DVI end into your Mac, and connect the DVI-D connector to a DVI-D cable.
Helpful Notes: This device is intended to function more as an adapter than as a cable, meaning its short length WILL NOT reach from your Mac to the monitor. It will need to be used with a DVI-D cable (sold separately).
The adapter MUST be used with a DVI-D cable. The specification for DVI-D does not support analog video signals, so this adapter will not work if used with a DVI-to-VGA cable, or with a DVI-I cable. Please check your monitor's input ports to be sure it has a DVI-D input before purchase.
In addition, this adapter works only with Mini-DVI ports, not with Micro-DVI or Mini Display Ports. To quickly check what port you have: this adapter has a U-shaped connector that will match the U-shape found on Mini-DVI ports.
Highest resolution supported: 1920x1200 @60Hz.

Exactly like the 'real' thing May 7, 2010 M. S. Kubota (San Carlos, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I already have the 'real' Apple adapter but needed a second one for my home office. This is EXACTLY like the Apple one. Upon close examination, the plastic molds and connectors look like they came from the same factory. The cable looks the same except it doesn't have the writing that is on the Apple cable. Even the package looks like Apple's- plastic bag with flat black cardboard seal. This is either a great Chinese knock-off (although they're all from China anyway) or it's simply an unlabeled version of the exact same cable.
BTW, for the first few weeks the connector was a bit harder to push in than my old one. And now that I remember, my old one was like this too when it was new. So give it a few weeks and it will 'click' much smoother.
Not for new MBPs May 1, 2010 ConsumerMan 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my April 2010 MBP but it did not fit. No foul from the seller but if you're looking for an adaptor for your newer MBP you want a "mini display port" to dvi.
Not the same picture but it works great August 5, 2010 Coyne My adapter did not look exactly like the description but it works as advertised. The mini side looks like the picture the the regular dvi side is made of softer plastic. I have owned a similar Apple branded adapter and this product is just as sturdy. The connection is very good. If you must have the exact adapter as in the picture, spend at least $20 more and pick up the Apple brand adapter. Otherwise, this one works just fine.
Yup, does just fine. August 1, 2010 Richard Wood (San Francisco) Just want to chime in with most of the other reviewers: this works fine and seems well-constructed enough that it should continue working fine.
I only installed it a few days ago, but the connectors are screwed in and seem solid, so I don't see any reason to doubt that it will continue functioning.
Of course, at this price (under $7 including shipping), the gamble is worth it. Even if their quality control is lousy and a large percentage of recipients get flawed cables, the cost is low enough to take the risk.
Oh, and shipping was very prompt. Arrived three days before Amazon had predicted.
simple and works June 27, 2010 jso This Mini-DVI to DVI-D adapter works well. Remember that it's DVI-D. One slight 'problem' might be that at the computer's end, the cable is not a perfect fit. But it's not so bad and as long as you don't forcefully pull the adapter or the computer, there shouldn't be any problem.
