Product Description Use this cable adapter to connect your Mac with a Mini-DVI video output port to an external monitor, TV, projector or other display device with HDMI input. Plug the Mini-DVI end into your Mac, and connect the HDMI end to an HDMI (male to male) cable, then plug the cable into your HDMI input input jack. Compatible models:12-inch PowerBook G4, Intel-based iMac, the MacBook Intel-based laptop, the Intel-based Xserve, and the 2009 Mac Mini.
Helpful Notes: This device is intended to function more as an adapter than as a cable, meaning its short length WILL NOT reach from your Mac to the monitor. It will need to be used with an HDMI cable (sold separately).
In addition, this adapter works only with Mini-DVI ports, not with Micro-DVI or Mini Display Ports. To quickly check what port you have: this adapter has a U-shaped connector that will match the U-shape found on Mini-DVI ports.
Highest resolution supported: 1920x1200 @60Hz.

Just plug and play! December 24, 2009 Attie W. Lee (San Diego, CA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Works right out of the box, with a male to male HDMI cable of-course (supports up to 1080p). The only thing that sucks is that it wont output any audio =(. The reason isn't the adapter but the mini DVI port; which doesn't support/output any audio. Keep this in mind if you plan on going this route. To fix the audio problem I used a toslink (digital optical) cable with a mini toslink adapter to output 5.1 to my surround sound setup. If you just have regular stereo speakers, use a regular stereo mini plug cable instead, or a stereo mini-plug with rca adapters if you have to plug your audio into a tv or vcr/dvr without an auxiliary input.
I'm watching my iMac display on my 52" Sony. March 2, 2010 6Motor1 (Sacramento) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Using this adapter with a 25' (cheap) HDMI cable, I can now see full screen HD video from my iMac on my Sony 52 in LCD HDTV. Don't forget to get a same-length audio cable: stereo miniature connector (from the iMac headphone jack) to RCA (red and white connectors to the same input group on your TV as the HDMI-in you use. The iMac detected the Sony by itself. Make sure to check mirror monitors in your display settings. Works great!
Wrong Product Good Service May 4, 2010 Nathan Bowman (Michigan) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The day after i ordered this i realized that i had ordered the wrong product and should have instead ordered mini-displayport instead of mini-DVI and that was my fault not the sellers because it clearly says mini-DVI not mini-displayport, i just didnt take care enough to realize that i have a newer macbook pro and was ordering the wrong thing, so make sure you read what your getting because they also sell the mini-displayport to HDMI also. That being said shipping was fantastic, i ordered acouple of things at the same time and they are still a good couple of days away, i received it before the first estimated shipping date so i cant complain.
Great product for price September 3, 2010 K. Wilson (USA) The adapter works wonderfully for picture quality...I can't get the audio to come on with it, but nevertheless, for 5 bucks, what do I expect to do? I may be doing something wrong...I still recommend the product.
Works fine with my circa 2007 macbook (not a macbook pro) August 12, 2010 a. audio listener (Reston VA) Does a great job in allowing me to display my (non-pro) circa 2007 macbook video on my 40-inch Samsung HDTV (using an HDMI cable to connect the adapter to the TV). Was a little confused about using the mac System Preferences to configure the screen but finally got it working (there were a few preliminary instances of the TV display blinking on and off before I could locate my mouse cursor to complete the setup). I knew beforehand that the connection would not deliver sound to the TV so was not disappointed there. I was able to hook up the sound from the macbook to my stereo receiver using a mini-to-RCA plug adapter (connected to the mac) and RCA cables between that adapter and the receiver (thus while the video was connected digitally, the audio connection was analog, not digital). I had tried an analog connection directly from the mac to the HDTV, and while the connection "worked", it was not loud enough - this is why I resorted to using the stereo receiver and its attached speakers. (I am planning to get a mini to Toslink adapter and toslink cable for a digital audio connection from the mac to the TV, but am concerned that the volume using that method will also be too weak without an amplifier.)
